The Toy Retailers Association have revealed their Dream Toy list, as seen on BBC1 Breakfast Show this morning.
The list seems highly influenced by the big toy companies, with some odd new entries, such as as the
Bakugan Starter Pack pack priced at £11.99. We couldn't really work these out, but if your children liked Pokemon or other Japanese Trading Cards they will probably get this similarly themed magnetic marble action game.
There are the inevitable electronic toys, which in small doses seem OK but we still believe they can very solitary and isolating for children, and do not encourage socialisation or interaction with others.... But they are still very popular and clever and the Dream list has included a couple, such as
My Life priced at £43.75 (which is a 'make your own virtual character' game) ,
Catcha Beast , priced at £19.99 and
Ben 10 Omnitrix, priced at £13.99.
At least the Ben 10 product and Catcha Beast encourage some running around....so quite a good choice if you are trying to prize them away from the computer like we are!
BBC Newsbeat has a full list and good pictures of tham all at
BBC Dream Toys Pictures!
If you really want to push the boat out try
Fur Real Biscuit priced at £147! Quite an investment, but the technology is VERY clever and she loves being petted and I'm sure the children and adults will be fascinated! You will have to judge how long you will remain interested.
Other toys included are the very popular
>High School Musical Dance Mat , priced at £18.38 from Amazon which I am sure would be on many girls wish list, and I think a good choice with its background of bright snappy tunes and cheerful characters.
Girly girls will like the
Baby Born with Magic Potty, priced at £34.99. Any young girl who enjoys 'real' dolls will love this potty training Baby Born that plays music when she tinkles!
The highlight for Boys has to be the
Star Wars Clone Trooper ..generally good fun role play for 5 to 8 year olds!
